Jihva For Ingredients - Ginger

Rosie from What’s the recipe today Jim? is the host of this months Jihva from Ingredients and has chosen Ginger as the theme.
Ginger has quite a refreshing flavour so I thought it might be the perfect addition to a traditional lemon barley water. The ginger adds new notes to an old favourite making it even more enjoyable on those warm summer days.
Ginger and Lemon Barley Water
2 litres water
1 cup caster sugar
150 grams pearl barley, washed and drained
2 lemons
100 grams fresh ginger, peeled and sliced
Remove the peel from the lemons, being careful not to leave any pith on the peel. Once this is done, juice the lemons.
Place the water and sugar into a saucepan and on a gentle heat, keep stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Add the lemon peel, ginger slices and pearl barley and allow to simmer for 30 minutes before removing from the heat.
Strain through muslin to remove the barley, lemon and ginger pieces and allow to cool.
When cold add the lemon juice - taste, and if necessary add more sugar if desired. Store in the fridge and serve over ice.

JNPR down , JDSU in spotlight

JDSU after market closed said its fiscal second-quarter net income was $23.2 million, or 10 cents a share, compared with year-ago net loss of $42.1 million, or 20 cents a share. Excluding items, the company earned 13 cents a share. Looking at the chart the stock closed above 50dma to 17.78$ with a spike in volume, a good signal for bulls, however we must wait for tomorrow to see the impact of the earnings report in stock price.

JNPR shares was down 8% closind at 18.12$ today in the wake of its third consecutive incomplete earnings report.
The company has not provided a balance sheet for the past three quarters because of an internal investigation into its past stock option grants. JNPR reported a revenue of about $596 million, up 4 percent from $575 during the same period last year. Looking at the chart, stock breakdown today an important support at 18.40 , next support is near 17$.

Cream - Elgaar Dairies

There’s something about this gorgeous little bottle that I just can’t resist - it’s a true bonus that cream held within is so good.
This is the Elgaar Dairies Organic Table Cream - you might recall a few months back that I used their Double Cream for the ultimate act of dairy indulgence. Where that came in at a hefty 52% butterfat this comes in a more reasonable 38%.
You’ll notice that as this isn’t homogenised it does separate and the butterfat rises to the neck of the bottle - you’ll have to give it a good shake to incorporate this (that’s if you don’t take a spoon and scoop it out for a quick hit - not that I would ever do that).
This is a good pure cream with no thickeners or gums added and I tend to use it when I want whipped cream for desserts - recently it topped the Australia Day Pavlova. There’s no need to add any sugars to the cream as it naturally has a sweetness to it’s taste.

Motorola in action today

Shares of Motorola rose nearly 7% to 19.58$, after the company announced today that billionaire investor Carl Icahn is seeking a position on its board of directors. Looking at the chart it still show weakness as the stock is trading below 50 dma and 200 dma. The stock is on rally with K line on top over D line, and this rally should at least take the stock back to 50 dma closing the gap.

China has launched 4G mobile technology

China has launched a trial run of home-grown fourth-generation mobile technology in Shanghai in what it called the world’s first rollout of the wireless application, state press reported Monday.
4G technology provides wireless services at much faster speeds, sharply improving high-quality images and data services, and potentially allowing for such features as multi-channel high-definition TV broadcasting.
The 4G trial in Shanghai cost 150 million yuan (19 million dollars) and was billed by the government as the world’s first rollout of the technology.

Shares of NFLX fell today 2.6% to 22.55$ , after Roth Capital downgraded its rating to ’sell’ from ‘hold’. Looking at the chart it still show weakness as the stock is trading below 50 dma and 200 dma. However with K line on top over D again we may see a improvement in stock price. MACD is above 0.
